I really didn't think this was possible. If another mother had told me this story, I would have scoffed and said there has to be a catch. Who knew there could be days that are EASIER than you expected as a mother! =)
Around two is when I get rid of the paci - my own subjective standard. I've been dreading it with Sawyer because he sleeps with Trenton. I could only imagine him crying for a couple hours each night like Trenton did at his age and keeping his brother awake. So, he's two years and one month and still sleeping with it.
Last night, after the boys had been in bed for an hour, Trenton started calling me urgently. Checking on them, I realized Trenton held Sawyer's paci - this usually calls for tears and screams on Sawyer's part. He didn't even seem to care.
Trenton looked at me and said, all matter of fact, "Bobby wants you to throw his paci away."
Shocked, I turned to Sawyer and said, "You want me to throw your paci away?"
"Yeah," he answered.
"I can take your paci and get rid of it?" I repeated to make sure I had heard right.
"Yeah."
"Ok, I can leave now with your paci because you're a big boy?"
"Yeah."
And that was that. He slept the night through without it! I'm still in shock. Now on to potty training . . .
