Fall Sports Here and Gone

Trenton's Elementary School offers cross country, which of course makes dad extremely proud -- so proud he had to get a shirt for himself too. Trenton had practice three mornings a week before school and a couple times I caught him chatting and fooling around with friends instead of running. We figure running is a little bit of an acquired taste, unlike the thrill of batting or kicking goals. I was just happy with the exercise it provided for him. Here he is at the meet with his "fans." He placed 8th out of 1st grade boys and of course ribbons were awarded to 1st - 7th places. We definitely had to help him work through that disappointment!

Showing Kellen how to stretch ...

Showing mom he's ready for the race ...

Finishing strong!

And somehow we crammed soccer into our free time too. Trenton's games were on Saturdays and he continued to play hard, stealing the ball often and scoring multiple goals. I love watching him play.

Uncle Josh even got to watch before leaving for AZ.

Sawyer and Kellen had no problem passing the time together, even if they didn't watch Trenton's game much!

Then on Tuesdays, we had Sawyer's games. He still holds back a little, but we purposefully put him on an older team to encourage him to push harder. He's such a sweet spirit and sometimes timid in social settings, so it's great to see him learn some confidence.

Now it's time to enjoy the little bit of warmth we have left this season before we're stuck inside!
