The Goings On Going On

Let the activities continue. Who says an Idaho Winter has to halt the action!

...Kellen's swim lessons at the indoor pool.
Elliot was a proud spectator. Or a bored one, depending on the minute.

... Trenton's basketball season to work on running endurance for soccer
because everything leads back to soccer.

... Sky High Sports,
an hour of calf-burning jumping,
bicep-strengthening rope swinging,
agility training dodge ball,
and ab toning foam pits
(have you tried to climb out of those monsters?!)

... Trenton's Indoor Soccer, which is a whole different animal, let me tell you.
You can pass the ball to yourself by bouncing it off the wall!
These 8 and 9 year olds played 10 year olds.
They lost more than they won, but in doing so,
they learned how hard they could play and how long they could fight.

... Sawyer's basketball season, which thankfully began after Trenton's ended.
What his team lacked in coaching, they made up in spirit and perseverance.
And we did our part by hiding our frustrations and competitive rants from Sawyer, our optimist.

Besides sports, Winter was a season of festivities.

... Grandparents' Thanksgiving Feast at Noah's Ark Preschool,
with songs, food, and handmade place mats for a memorable meal.

... First Grade Christmas Musical
Sawyer, as the Emperor Penguin, was the star of the show.
We told him his voice was so deep and he said, "I know, they told me to sound regal."

... Opening Christmas Presents

... Valentine's Day
A big holiday for daddy and his little girl. This year she got a Frozen shirt and immediately tried to put it on. Without even seeing the movie, she's become obsessed.

... Kellen's 5th Birthday

Happy Birthday to the boy who still runs to me every time I walk in the door from work, screaming Mooooooom, jumping in my arms for a hug ... to the boy who can silently work for an hour on an intricate lego creation from his own imagination and then show me in detail what every part does ... to the boy who loves to play car games, whether yelling "slug bug, slugged ya!" or creating scenarios where he's zooming by in his red race car and beating me to our destination ... to the boy who has a confident faith and proclaims often that the devil just doesn't believe Jesus died on the cross ... to the boy who adores his sister, especially because it gives him someone smaller to guide and direct ... to the boy who flashes a dimpled grin and suddenly the world is a brighter place.

And finally, Winter meant trips,
to Arizona ... and Home Depot.

We spent Christmas vacation with both sides of the family in Arizona,
playing outside in the sun, or inside in the dog crates.

surrounded by family

Home Depot, a trip on a smaller scale maybe, but for one five year old probably just as exciting. T is for Transportation, so Miss Tammy brought the preschoolers to make a fire and rescue plane with wood and nails. We toured the store, picked out a bag of seeds to bring home, watched a fork lift in action, and left with a bag of goodies. Best field trip ever.

Well, that's all for now. Just a cute, little, almost-two year old here to sign off.

"Cheeeeeeese"
Oh, that face.
