Farms and Soccer
Also Known As Fall
We took a family trip to Walter's Fruit Ranch for the first time in four years.
And learned a life lesson.
Setting four kids loose in an apple orchard without limits will make one the proud owner of 28 pounds of golden delicious apples. In ten minutes or less. But they had a blast and we all enjoyed the seven dinners accompanied by homemade applesauce as a result.
Of course, we hit up the pumpkin patch afterwards and told them they could pick as big a pumpkin as they could carry. Elliot says, "I need a mall one" and then proceeded to say no to every one we offered. Somehow she knew when she saw the perfect one.
Then for the third time, I got to visit the adorable Prairie Home Farm on a Kindergarten field trip to feed animals and snack on cider and popcorn in the barn.

Sawyer started his first year of club soccer and his skill and confidence increased dramatically; plus he gained a bunch of like-minded buddies. Unlike Trenton, he has a natural inclination for goalie and has spent a lot of game time in the net, showing no fear for the ball hurtling towards his face.
Trenton continued to flourish in Sting and a couple times won the beast trophy for the match. His team definitely relies on him to be a physical force on their defense and this year he had a few more rough hits than last year, going to the ground and actually staying down. I know it's only the beginning for this nervous mama of athletic boys.
We ended October painting pumpkins instead of carving them because we're those parents ...
and trick or treating with friends despite the rain-filled clouds and blustery night.
