"Old Man" Sawyer

My poor baby has had a rough week. I stopped breastfeeding soon after his six month appointment because he hadn't gained one ounce in two months. They assumed my supply was low and that he needed more volume. We tried a normal milk-based formula and he kept throwing up. So, last weekend we switched to soy formula and he stopped throwing up. Yea! I thought we were in the clear. Well, he also stopped pooping. By Thursday, he was screaming every time he tried and nothing would happen. Friday, he started bleeding. We took him to the doctor and I'm not even going to say what that was like because you'll be covering your eyes pleading "too much information!" Suffice to say, it was miserable. Dr. James switched his formula again and told us to give him a jar of prunes a day to help things along. My six month old with his bald head and ring of old man hair in the back is now completing the transformation with a diet of prunes :-) This was our first attempt Saturday night. He is such a drooly baby that all the prunes just kept dripping out of his mouth. It was hysterical! And then he proceeded to wipe his fingers in it and spread the prunes to his head and ears. I'm not sure any actually got to his digestive system, so from now on I'm mixing small amounts in with his formula.

Don't the prune smears look like some ancient tribal face markings?!
