Christmas Programs 2012

Trenton was in a cute, little Christmas musical in preschool two years ago. Little did we know how crazy it could be; this year we had three!

First up was Trenton's school program. His first grade music teacher orchestrated a 20 minute program about penguins who find Santa fallen from his sleigh and have to remind him who he is. It was an adorable, original story and songs. Trenton had four speaking parts he didn't tell us about! Unfortunately, I underestimated how early parents will show up and didn't get a close seat for video, but his pictures from the classroom turned out really well.

Next was the very same program we attended two years ago, only this time Sawyer was in the spotlight. I couldn't help reminiscing on Trenton as a five-year-old singing the same songs. Kids really do grow as fast as our parents tell us! Sawyer was quite proud that it was his turn, but I think by the end he was ready to be done singing...as evidenced by the yawning =)

Here's the star waiting for the show to begin:

And my two favorite songs from the night:

It was such a festive night for our family with the Nativity story and songs.

Lastly, we had our church's first annual Children's Pageant and Trenton auditioned for a speaking part. I was worried he would get nervous speaking in front of so many people, but he worked hard to memorize his line and spoke confidently into the microphone. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera on video mode in time and missed the whole thing! Figures. So, in its place, I made him say it for me before bed. It turned out more animated than the original; I loved it!

Plus, I was still learning how to operate the video in general, so the first two I took of the show are really blurry =( I put them in anyway because I love his dance moves!

Then at the end, they brought out the preschool age and younger kids for their song. Sawyer was so serious and a little lost on stage, it made me laugh. And Kellen just loved standing up to wave at us! It was so precious.

Another of our favorite moments from the program circuit of December was Kellen choosing a favorite song. We had a CD to play so Trenton could practice the songs outside of church. We listened every time we were in the car and Kellen started learning the songs. He would always ask me to play his favorite: Go Tell It On The Mountain. I had to bribe him with a jelly bean, but I got him to sing it for the camera.

Oh the joy of Christmas!! We had a fun two weeks celebrating the season with songs and three especially beautiful voices.
