It was impossible to make this post any shorter =)

So Landon and I finally got to go on a trip together, but unfortunately it still wasn't our whole family. We left Sawyer with mom mom and papa while we drove with Trenton to San Diego for five days. It was really hard to leave him, but we called every day to check how he was and hear funny stories about his antics. He started saying bob, dad, and mom while we were gone and popped 3 teeth out! While it was hard to miss these small milestones, it was special to have time alone with Trenton. We left Friday morning, arrived around 3pm, and went right to the beach where we grilled hamburgers and let our Arizona son discover what an ocean is. Saturday we walked around downtown Encinitas for a bit with our Starbucks and then spent the afternoon back at the beach.

jumping into holes and finding rocks

eating chips covered in sand!

Landon with Logan and their friend from MN, Emily
(the only ones who got all the way in the water!)

we had to be inventive when he fell asleep =)

We were there for Fourth of July, but had a hard time finding a place to see fireworks because of the fog. We finally just parked in the middle of a lane of traffic on a slow side street and watched from the car =) Trenton learned the word fireworks and loved pointing out each one as it exploded. I bought Landon and Trenton patriotic shirts for the day.

Sunday we went to Rock church with Logan and Marcela and heard Miles McPherson preach. The worship was soulful and the sermon stimulating. Let's just say, if Landon got offered a job there, I would have a hard time turning it down! After service and Starbucks again, we went to Balboa Park, which is one of our favorite places to visit.

We met up with Marcela's nephews, Manny and Joaquin, who are bilingual. It was so amazing to hear them switch back and forth between the two languages talking to Marcela.

At first the three boys did their own thing and ran around separately, but as soon as we got them a treat, they perched on a wall together and started comparing tongue colors from their popsicles! That night Trenton didn't want to leave them and as we walked away, cried "boys boys."

Monday, Landon and I took Trenton to Sea World, my favorite place in California! Trenton's favorite exhibit was the "pinos" (penguins) and he and Landon went through there at least 4 times. We saw the dolphin show, pet show, and Shamu show. At the dolphin show, we got soaked by the pilot whales and Trenton was not too happy about it. If you ask him, "who got you wet?" he says "whale splashed!" He was a little skeptical of the shark tunnel at first, but other than that enjoyed looking at all of the animals and imitating their behavior.

still smiling in the parking lot after an eight hour day!

We left Tuesday morning and got home around 4pm. Mom mom and papa brought Sawyer home and he proceeded to cry and refuse to reach for me. I guess he wanted us to know he was mad at missing all the fun!

Ryan says to tell you that posting once every two weeks is not enough. :) (I don't know why he can't comment for himself, maybe it has something to do with the fact that he's driving 60+ mph down the interstate pulling a 30 ft. travel trailer, while I'm reading him blogs.)
