I really do feel better after writing about it ...

Remember when I posted the picture of Trenton asleep in his crib naked and the quote "There is no such thing as a common day. Every day has something about it no other day has"? Well, I have just experienced the other side of that quote and it is not cute and funny like bare 2 year old buns. The first half of my day has been completely futile. I got up this morning mentally prepared to run errands and errands with two young kids in 115 degree heat takes a good amount of mental preparation.

The list looked something like this:
1) Return items to Kohls and buy decorations for living room
2) Get a Gilbert library card and check out some books
3) Go to Walmart to refill water jugs and buy sleeves for digital picture CDs
Nothing big you say, shouldn't take too long. hahaha

Here's how the day actually went:
- LOAD kids in the car along with shoes, diaper bag, purse, items to return, water jugs, and toy cars to keep them quiet
- UNLOAD kids at Kohls and try to pile everything I want to return on top of the double stroller, dropping it twice on the pavement
- return is successful and the shopping begins, both kids start to whine because they're stuck in the stroller
- pick out 3 candles, a black wooden "A," and a beautiful giant clock (the last one in stock) that was 40% off -- I was pretty jazzed
- pay for purchases, walk outside, and LOAD kids in the car -- it is then I realize the little knob that holds the hands of the clock has broken off and is flying around the face like a pinball marble. I decide it is not worth unloading the kids again to walk back into Kohls, maybe I can try to fix it???
- drive in circles looking for the Gilbert library, after texting Google and calling 411 with no help, Landon finally calls me back with directions
- UNLOAD the kids from the car into the stroller
- walk up to the library where a sign on the door says, "computers are down." It's not looking good. I proceed inside where the librarian indeed tells me that Gilbert Public Library cardholders may still check out books but they are not able to issue any new cards.
- LOAD the kids back into the hot car, once again, unable to check an item off my list
- drive to Walmart and UNLOAD the kids into a hot, metal grocery cart
- walk all the way to the back of the store to the photo department, search desperately for the sleeves, only to be told by an employee that they don't have any at this time. Seriously?!
- realize I left the empty five gallon water jugs in the car
- refuse to walk all the way to the car in the heat just to walk back into Walmart to fill water. Yes, I should have, but I believe I may have been certifiably insane at this point so don't judge.
- LOAD the kids back, once again, into a hot car
- drive home with a list that I will have to get up and repeat tomorrow

Like I said, EVERY day has something no other day has.

Oh my gosh! I have had so many trips like this sometimes I almost feel like I will just become a hermit! :) Well...until the cabin fever sets in. I have now been enjoying going places because both my girls will walk by me! So...the good news is that this will pass and before you know it,they will be walking next to you and it will not seem like there are so many steps to just "running an errand."
It is a story every mom can relate to. Thanks for sharing :)
